The Precious Word of God
Holy Bible, Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine to tell me whence I came;
Mine to teach me what I am.
Mine to chide me when I rove;
Mine to show a Savior’s love;
Mine thou art to guide and guard;
Mine to punish or reward.
Mine to comfort in distress;
Suffering in this wilderness;
Mine to show, by living faith,
Man can triumph over death.
Mine to tell of joys to come,
And the rebel sinner’s doom;
O thou holy Book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine.
- John Burton Sr. -
Thy word have I hid in mine heart,
that I might not sin against thee.
- Psalm 119:11 -
O how love I thy law!
it is my meditation all the day.
- Psalm 119:97 -
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.
- Psalm 119:105 -
Heaven and earth shall pass away,
but my words shall not pass away.
- Matthew 24:35 -
The Spirit breathes upon the Word,
And brings the truth to sight;
Precepts and promises afford
A sanctifying light.
A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic, like the sun:
It gives a light to every age;
It gives, but borrows none.
The Hand that gave it still supplies
The gracious light and heat:
His truths upon the nations rise;
They rise, but never set.
Let everlasting thanks be thine
For such a bright display
As makes a world of darkness shine
With beams of heav'nly day.
My soul rejoices to pursue
The steps of him I love.
Till glory break upon my view
In brighter worlds above.
- William Cowper -

First of all, the appearance of this Bible is quite lovely with its simplistic design.
The Bible itself is soft to the touch and very well made.
When I first opened this precious Book I turned to Genesis
and was immediately inspired to read and dig deeper into God's Word.
I was given the meaning of the greek word for Genesis
which is "source," "generation," or "beginning."
And then I read the Hebrew title Bereshith which means "in the Beginning."
Before I even started reading the verses I was given a basic understanding of Genesis
which would help me as I continued on in my study of the book.
Foundation is key and understanding the meaning of words
will go a long way in our understanding of God's Word.
This Bible is not a reference Bible but rather a Word Study Bible.
Obviously the content of God's Word has not changed
{{smiles}}
but the word definitions and other study helps were very informative
when studying the Scriptures.
Understanding the meaning of certain words in the Bible
will not only increase your knowledge,
but also help you grow closer to the Lord.
Kenneth W. Osbeck says,
"The same Spirit of God who authored the Bible is the One who enilightens it
for our understanding and guidance."
In the back of the Bible you will find indexes for:
English Words,
Scripture Passages,
Hebrew Numbers,
Greek Numbers.
If you are new to word studies than I would highly recommend this Word Study Bible.
Even if you are a seasoned believer with years of wisdom under your belt
I think this would be a wonderful Bible to have on hand.
There have been several times during a sermon that I've used my new Bible
to learn more from the passage that's being presented.
** I was given a complimentary copy of this book from BookLook Bloggers
for an honest review.
All thoughts are my own and no other compensation was received. **
The Bible is the only book
whose Author is always present
when one reads it.

Read your Bible.
Pray every day.
And you’ll grow, grow, grow.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
- Hebrews 4:12 -
- Hebrews 4:12 -
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 -
Have a blessed Lord's Day
and a most beautiful week!
