All Your Anxiety

Is there a heart o'er bound by sorrow?
If there a life weighed down by care?
Come to the cross - each burden bearing,
all your anxiety - leave it there.

No other friend so keen to help you;
no other friend so quick to hear;
no other place to leave your burden;
no other one to hear your prayer.

Come then at once - delay no longer!
Heed His entreaty kind and sweet;
you need no fear a disappointment -
You shall find peace at the mercy seat.

Chorus
All your anxiety, all your care,
bring to the mercy seat - leave it there;
never a burden He cannot bear,
never a friend like Jesus!
- Edward Henry Joy -

The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith,
and the beginning of true faith is the end of anxiety.
- George Muller -

Casting all your care upon him;
for he careth for you.
- 1 Peter 5:7 -

You cannot read the book of Psalms
without sensing the deep cloud of emotional gloom
experienced at times even by King David,
this man after God's own heart.
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted within me? "
- Psalm 43:5a -

But David also knew the right answer for these dark times.
First, he honestly admitted his feelings to God.
Second, he reestablished his confidence in God.
Third, he determined to praise Him-
"hope in God: for I shall yet praise him,
who is the health of my countenance, and my God."
- Psalm 43:5b -
{ Kenneth W. Osbeck - Amazing Grace }

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion:
in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me;
he shall set me up upon a rock.
- Psalm 27:5 -

Commit thy way unto the Lord;
trust also in him;
and he shall bring it to pass.
- Psalm 37:5 -

Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and he shall sustain thee:
he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
- Psalm 55:22 -

Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
thou wilt revive me:
thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies,
and thy right hand shall save me.
- Psalm 138:7 -

In the rifted Rock I'm resting,
safely sheltered I abide,
all secure in this blest refuge,
heeding no the fiercest blast.

Peace which passeth understanding,
joy the world can never give,
now in Jesus I am finding;
in His smiles of love I live.

Now I'm resting,
sweetly resting in the cleft once made for me;
Jesus, blessed Rock of Ages,
I will hide myself in Thee.
- Mary D. James -

Have a blessed and restful Lord's Day,
sweet friends!
